Extreme Crunch Pizza

Prefer a crispy and crunchy bite from crust to centre when eating pizza? Make this easy pizza for some serious crunch.

 

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil 
  • 560 g store-bought pizza dough
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese 
  • 3 Roma tomatoes 
  • 1 red pepper, sliced
  • 2 onions, sliced
  • 10 mushrooms, sliced
  • 20 pepperoni slices
  • 1 tablespoon oregano
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper 
  • 1 teaspoon red chili flakes

Instructions:

  1. Let the pizza dough rest at room temperature for at least 5 hours. If your pizza dough comes in 2 balls in one bag, let it rest in the bag.
  2. Spread the olive oil in a 20" x 15" sheet pan making sure the entire pan is evenly coated including up the sides.
  3. Take the pizza dough out of the bag and place on the sheet pan and roll it in the oil while kneading the dough until it feels blended.
  4. With the dough in the centre of the sheet pan, start spreading the dough evenly towards the sides. You may or may not reach the sides on the first attempt. Let it rest for 30 minutes and spread again. Keep repeating until the dough stays to the sides and make sure the dough is uniform in thickness throughout.
  5. Make sure the dough is well oiled, and sprinkle some salt on top of the dough.
  6. Bake in a 400° preheated oven for 12 minutes.
  7. Start adding the pizza toppings, beginning with the cheese as the bottom layer. You may use the toppings listed in the ingredients section or add toppings and spices of your choice.
  8. Baked again in 400°F preheated oven for 15 minutes or until bottom of the crust is golden brown.
